My wife Peggy and I moved to NWA six years ago to a townhouse in Rogers. In the process of trying to determine where to settle, we fell in love with Bentonville and bought a home a few blocks from the square.
We really enjoyed the “feel” of the square and knew there was tremendous opportunity for the downtown corridor. Peggy and I had been wondering what we could do to get involved in the area, and when the space on the Bentonville square at corner of SE Main and Central came available in early Sept of 2006, we knew immediately that we wanted to put a coffee shop on that corner. Thus was the beginning of Java on the Square. Since the opening on Nov 16, 2006 the customer base has expanded to include regulars who come from out of town because of their experience at our coffee café.
Along with our owner-partner Brandon Banks who came to us from Georgia (yep, he’s a Bulldog) via Covenant Seminary in St. Louis, our goal is to make Java on the Square the most comfortable stopping point in NW Arkansas for those who are looking for great coffee and light food fair in a relaxed atmosphere.
